The largest throwdown ever to grace Belfast is to be held at Irish Muscle Power, spearheaded by Alan Fitzpatrick, organizer of the renowned FILTHY 150 & Celtic Cup.

This years Irish Muscle Power Celtic Games event will see over 200 competitors, mostly crossfitters, come to Belfast for one of the most exhilarating events to date. The games will be made up of 40 invited individual athletes, male, female & masters along with 60 same sex teams of three.

The Titanic Exhibition Centre is the largest space ever in Ireland to host such an event. This will allow a unique test of fitness, where athletes need to be ready for the unknown & unknowable…

The Celtic Cup is a unique knockout tournament for Scaled (intermediate) & RX teams

Teams of three athletes represent gyms from one of the 9 Celtic Nations and ‘Rest of Europe’

There are no qualifiers, teams who enter will compete at the finals on 22nd & 23rd April 2017
The National Show Centre, Dublin, Ireland

Like a cup competition in any sport, the luck of the draw will be very important. All teams will compete in a minimum of 3 wods, up to 5wods

The tournament will be divided into two divisions
Scaled teams Saturday, RX teams Sunday

Workouts will be variants of popular hero, girl, regional or finals WODs
but completed as a team & similar to 2016

The action will be fast & every second will count!

– Teams will be randomly drawn into waves of ten
– 5 teams across the line first progress to the next round.
– ‘Backdoor’ for teams who lose out in the first or second round.

The 20 teams remaining at the end of the day (10 rx & 10 scaled) will race the Final wod,
which will be voted for by the spectators.

RX winners will secure a cash prize of €5000 for their gym.
Scaled winners will receive €2000 in prizes for their gym.

The Celtic Games series is organized and directed by Alan Fitzpatrick from Navan in Co. Meath. Alan has co-organized the ‘The Filthy 150’ for the past 3 years. The 2015 event hosted over 800 athletes, from 80 gyms & 2000 spectators in the National Basketball Arena, Dublin.

Alan is the owner & head coach at CrossFit Navan, where we have hosted & organised several events including the 2013 Filthy 150 & the Grid Invitational tournament in 2015, which saw over 18 affiliates & gyms come together for a unique head to head team event.

CrossFit Navan was also the venue for the first Celtic Fire grid match. Alan is the manager & owner of the Celtic Fire. Ireland’s first Grid team to compete at the International Grid Tournament in Los Angeles in Sept 2015.
